Use it as soon as you remember unless it’s nearly time for your next dose. If you forget to use your mometasone, do not worry. If you’re worried, talk to a doctor or pharmacist. Using too much mometasone is unlikely to harm you. Speak to your doctor if your skin gets worse or does not get better within 14 days of using mometasone skin treatments. Only use the cream or ointment for longer than 5 days if your doctor tells you to. If your doctor says you can use mometasone on your face, then it’s usually OK to use it for up to 5 days. You will usually only use it for a few days.Ĭhildren must not use mometasone skin treatments for more than 5 days, unless their doctor says to use it for longer. Most people only need to use mometasone skin treatments for a short time. Speak to your doctor, who might tell you to gradually reduce your dose or give you a milder steroid cream or ointment to use until you stop completely. Once your skin starts getting better, do not stop using mometasone suddenly.

Transactions succeed when all sub-transactions succeed, and the stored data does not contradict each other.Īvailability A secure system also needs to be able to be used in due time. Integrity Secure software systems make sure that data and processes are not tempered with, destroyed, or altered. That includes malicious external actors as well as unauthorized internal stakeholders. The best practice is to accept the work of the open source community by scanning and updating software dependencies in your project using scanners like Snyk Open Source - while doing your part by scanning and fixing your code using Snyk Code.Ĭonfidentiality Secure software systems do not disclose information to parties that are not allowed to receive it. But the remaining 10 to 20% is critical: this code reflects your personal IP, and there is no open source community helping you keep it secure. Today, applications consist of 80 to 90% open source dependencies. The CIA triad is often used as a model for secure systems, and to identify possible vulnerabilities and fixes. This should include the precise source of the issue, and any known publicly available fixes for both security flaws and code anti-patterns.Ĭode security can be described using the CIA triad - confidentiality, integrity, and availability. An effective code checker solution will identify flaws, while also giving developers the insights they need to remediate them. This type of data-driven security works in tandem with threat intelligence to improve the overall security posture of your organization.įinally, detecting code security issues is only half the battle. The code checker you use should also leverage a comprehensive vulnerability database to identify security issues at the code level, as well as known vulnerabilities introduced via open source dependencies.Vulnerability databases help developers stay on top of the latest security exploits as they’re discovered, without spending endless hours researching the current cyber threat landscape. STRUCTURAL: Determines whether there are inconsistencies with implementing language-specific best practices and cryptographic techniques. SEMANTIC: Examines code contextually to estimate what the developer intended, and check whether the code syntax differs.ĭATA FLOW: Tracks the flow of data from insecure sources to ensure it’s cleansed before consumption by the application. The most common types of SAST security analysis are:ĬONFIGURATION: Ensures that application configuration files are following security best practices and policies. A SAST tool also needs to take a comprehensive approach for scanning source code, and be able to combine with linters to check code syntax and style. When it comes to static application security testing (SAST) with a code checker, it’s important to choose a developer-first tool that integrates into developer workflows and produces minimal false positives in scan results. More maintainable code can also improve the customer experience because there are fewer bugs and technical debt to deal with in the future. This can make a significant impact on the quality and security of code that developers write going forward. Integrating code checkers into existing developer workflows is a great way to fix code issues earlier, while also helping developers learn about best practices. This a piece of history, tasting the past can tell one much about the present, and the strides taken to get here. The bottle and label are a little larger, yet similar to what the current bottle designs look like. Here we have one of the older Hibiki releases, featuring liquid that went on to make Hibiki what it is today. Suntory has approached the Hibiki brand in many different ways, changing both the design and liquid over time. The blend comprises over 10 different malt and grain whiskies, hand-selected by Suntory’s master distiller from all three sites. Released in 2015, the Master’s Select is gorgeous, smooth blend, bursting with tropical fruit, creamy vanilla, and cinnamon. The Harmony Master’s Select take things up a notch, and many claim it rivals the younger aged Hibiki expressions. The distillers worked hard to combine malt from Yamazaki and Hakushu, and grain from Chita, to create this smooth, easy-drinking NAS blend, and maintain the quality Hibiki whisky is renowned for. As the shortage of aged Suntory stock grew, the renowned Hibiki 12 Year-Old was replaced with the Harmony. The most accessible and readily available of Hibiki whisky, the Harmony can be found far and wide and is the most affordable bottle in the range. Here are some of the most well-known Hibiki bottlings, each representing a facet in the premium blend’s journey. Some were made in commemoration of certain events, others bottled to celebrate Japan, while some were replaced due to a shortage of aged stock, and to cater to the modern consumer. Over the years the Hibiki blend has grown, adapted, and changed leaving behind a wonderful array of bottle designs. The Hibiki bottle design is known for having 24 facets, each one coming together to deliver a natural harmony that is, perfectly, Japanese. On a global scale, the Hibiki whisky range by Suntory was and is, arguably, the most influential in changing the world’s perception of blended whisky, and in helping certain Japanese blends assume a similar premium image to the one the single malt category enjoys. Age statements were added to blends, 17 Year-Old, 21, 30, meaning that every whisky in the blend was at least as old as the age stated on the bottle. The word premium was attached to Japanese blended whisky, and pushed across the globe. Sometimes change must come from the outside. And this belief has lingered throughout the years. The assumed inferiority of blended whisky originates from the mistaken belief that blended expressions comprise the bad-tasting whiskies the Scotch distilleries don’t want. There are faster and sleeker tools that will do one or more of the features offered by GIMP but relatively few that do it all. If we restrict ourselves to free software, however, the field narrows considerably. Is there a better alternative?Ĭlearly, the first alternative that comes to mind is Photoshop, which is arguably better. GIMP will run on Windows, Mac, and UNIX/GNU. If you make GIMP your mission, you’ll undoubtedly get lots of support in the process and, since it’s free, what is there to lose? Where can you run this program? It seems to be surrounded by a really enthusiastic and helpful community. GIMP takes effort to get to know and use but the people who love it REALLY love it. Once you get more familiar with it, you can set about customizing the interface and options so you create a UI that is quick and efficient for the tasks you want to perform, rather than everything that’s on offer, all of the time. The GIMP community is active and helpful, and the developers are great at solving problems and squishing bugs fast. If you’re determined to get to grips with GIMP, there are plenty of tutorials, videos, and extra help that will set you on the road. GIMP will also have a good go at opening a vast number of file formats, and you can add functionality and assorted features via a range of plug-ins that changes all the time. It also deals with layers and layer masks, just like Photoshop, and can offer you a whole host of filters, color options, and tools like transform and text. So, what can GIMP offer you? Well, it is a raster editor and supports RAW images. Beyond that, however, you’re going to have to go back to square one, because although both programs use similar terminology, there are significant differences in the way you will use them and the depth of editing you can perform. If you’ve used Photoshop before, the general layout of the interface, which has a pretty traditional Windows vibe going on, will be familiar and not terribly cool. Although downloading and installing GIMP is very easy (it has a traditional Windows installer), taking your first steps will be more of a challenge. For the less ambitious among us, simply using it will be enough - much like cousin Photoshop, this app has a steep learning curve. This wonder-app has been around since 1996 and still manages to be the number one in its category when we’re talking about free ways to edit your pictures, photos, and images.Īs an open-source app, you’re not only able to download and use it for free but you could also, if you felt inclined, modify it to your particular uses. If it’s not Photoshop, it’s got to be GIMPĮvery so often we talk about classic pieces of software, but GIMP really takes the biscuit. Other names for the domestic breed in Spanish are pato casero (“backyard duck”) and pato mudo (“mute duck”) becasue they do not quack, but more of a muted quack or whisper. Their plumage color is also more variable. They have been bred since pre-Columbian times by Native Americans and are heavier and less able to fly long distances than the wild subspecies. The domestic subspecies, Cairina moschata domestica, is commonly known in Spanish as the pato criollo. In general, Barbary duck is the term used for C. Both sexes have pink or red wattles around the bill, those of the male being larger and more brightly colored.Īlthough the Muscovy duck is a tropical bird, it adapts well to cooler climates, thriving in weather as cold as 12 ☌ (10 ☏) and able to survive even colder conditions. It may have white patches or bars on the wings, which become more noticeable during flight. The amount of white on the neck and head is variable, as well as the bill, which can be yellow, pink, black, or any mixture of these colors. The bird is predominantly black and white, with the back feathers being iridescent and glossy in males, while the females are more drab. Females are considerably smaller, and only grow to 3 kg (6.6 lb), roughly half the males’ size. Size somewhere between a crow and a goose. Muscovies are a large duck, with the males about 76 cm (30 in) long, and weighing up to 7 kg (15 lb). Oh, our eggs are good! These are newly hatched ducklings that will grow up to be tail-wagging ducks that are always happy to see you! Please look at our pics, these are our pets! We do not have any pure white Muscovy in our flock. Feral Muscovy ducks are found in New Zealand, Australia, and in parts of Europe. Small wild and feral breeding populations have established themselves in the United States, particularly in Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, the Big Island of Hawaii as well as in many other parts of North America including southern Canada. The Muscovy duck (Cairina moschata) is a large duck native to South America & Central America. In 2013, for example, a study published in PLOS revealed that it is possible to extract images of identifiable bystanders from eye reflections captured in high-resolution images. Though the situation is bizarre, the idea of high-resolution images inadvertently revealing information via eye reflections isn't new. Equipped with those details, Sato allegedly waited at the station for the pop star to arrive, followed her to her residence, and assaulted her. The report claims Hibiki Sato admitted to figuring out which train station the star left to walk home by studying the light direction visible in some of her videos, as well as a reflection of the station visible in her eyes in an image she uploaded to social media. Until then, you can stick with the classic reflection-reducing technology of contact lens.Screenshot from the NHK World-Japan newscast.Ī news report from NHK World-Japan claims a crazed fan used eye reflections in images uploaded to social media, among other things, to track down a famous Japanese pop star's condominium in Tokyo where he allegedly assaulted her. Given how often video call services like Zoom (and Microsoft Teams in particular) issue small updates and new functionalities in a constant battle to remain the most feature-rich conferencing service, it's easy to picture a glasses-blurring feature being introduced in the wake of this study. We already have the technology, with blurred backgrounds a common feature in video conferencing software. That's still a danger, so it makes sense that the study's authors have suggested a potential fix: Software that can automatically blur eyeglasses on video streams. In other words, even an HD camera will likely be limited to reflected headlines. You might want to turn the lights on for this one. Our research proposes near-term mitigations including a software prototype that users can use to blur the eyeglass areas of their video streams.” ~ The study For proof of some mirrors’ terrifying abilities, read out this harrowing story involving The Dark Mirror, a black scrying glass that has frightened nearly everyone who’s gazed into it, and continues to show people terrible things as it travels across the world. “Our models further show that the evolution towards 4K cameras will tip the threshold of text leakage to reconstruction of most header texts on popular websites. In the future, when 4K cameras are common, that risk increases at least a little. Will 4K Cameras Be Able to Capture Smaller Text?Ĭurrently, the study found, the danger of a reflection revealing data through a present-day 720p webcams is fairly low, since it will only work for big fonts. The 10 mm reflection size tends to map to font size of between 50 and 60s pixels, according to an email from Long to The Register. The “over 75%” statistic refers to perscription glasses, which yielded better results than the more reflective blue-light blocking glasses in the study, due to a smaller curvature. “Our models and experimental results in a controlled lab setting show it is possible to reconstruct and recognize with over 75% accuracy on-screen texts that have heights as small as 10 mm with a 720p webcam.” The team included researchers Yan Long, Chen Yan, Shilin Xiao, Shivan Prasad, Wenyuan Xu, and Kevin Fu, who paired mathematical modeling with human subject experiments to figure out just how small a reflection could be before the text could no longer be reconstructed. The study, titled “Private Eye: On the Limits of Textual Screen Peeking via Eyeglass Reflections in Video Conferencing,” was conducted by researchers at the University of Michigan in the US in tandem with those at the Zhejiang University in China. Unless you're on a Zoom call while also taking a headline-sized look at your bank details or password list, you'll be safe. So why shouldn't you be worried about it? Because the common webcam resolution, 720p, is only capable of reading font sizes of 50-60 pixels, or the size of a particularly large headline. Could your eyeglasses reflect the screen you're looking at, leaking otherwise private information to others on a video call with you? Weirdly, the answer is yes.Ī recent study has found that popular video conferencing softwares like Zoom or Google Meet can record the glasses reflection of a computer screen in enough detail to recreate the text on that screen. It is important to note that EditReady leverages the official Apple version of ProRes and not a reverse engineered version that can sometimes cause quality control issues when delivering master QuickTime files to a network. Their mantra is: if the QuickTime player can play the file so can EditReady.ĮditReady can convert to and from Apple ProRes (422, 422 HQ, 422 LT, 422 Proxy, and 4444), Avid DNxHD and H.264-based QuickTimes. On the surface, EditReady is a QuickTime converter and metadata editor. The day I saw Divergent Media ( tweet about EditReady saying it was a “game changer” I was skeptical but intrigued. (As a side note, to this day when I watch shows where I can visibly see at least 10 GoPros on top of the normal three or four production cameras, my agita kicks in a little… but I digress.) That’s not even talking about when I would need to convert frame rates, I mean when the show onlines in 1080p/23.976, why not shoot two months of GoPro footage (three separate angles) at 1080i/59.94 right?! I would then have a new “master” QuickTime to import into my low-resolution project at DNxHD 36 (maybe even 28:1- AHHH!) or DNxHD 45, depending on the frame rate, storage types and storage capacities available. In the end, I would have to spend many weeks converting H.264 QuickTimes to DNxHD flavored QuickTimes - ironically in Apple’s Compressor or even Sorenson Squeeze. I have personally spent a ton of time trying to figure out a better solution in my predominantly Avid Media Composer-based workflow and found that creating new master QuickTimes at the final output spec - Avid DNxHD for my world - would help speed up the preparation for online editing by embracing the fast-import feature inside of Media Composer. “Why would a file take longer than tape?” was a common inquiry. A lot of supervisors and editors who had no clue how long it took to get footage into the system properly would get upset and frustrated at the prospect of QuickTimes taking longer than real time to import, a constant battle. It caused assistants to go from digitizing tape and importing a few QuickTimes to importing hundreds of hours of QuickTimes. Subsequently this also turned the assistant editor world upside down. Once the GoPro camera came along, the file-based camera workflow really kicked into high gear. While XDCAM had its kinks at first, it’s a pretty proven method these days, at least in reality television production where I work. Sony has a solid solution using file-based and tape-based media with the XDCAM format: simultaneously writing low-resolution proxy files and high-resolution files for mastering. I have also seen the many different workflows people have used to get footage into a system, and most of the time it’s either wrong or overly complicated. In those various roles, I have seen tons of tape and file formats come and go over the years. Prior to that I spent four years as a post production coordinator/post supervisor. Before I became a full-time editor, I spent over four years as an assistant editor. |
